Hey guys, I've got a quick question for you guys, I was looking at a 2000 F150 with a 4.6 and a 5-Speed yesterday, and while I was taking the truck for a test drive, I noticed that the clutch was really easy to press down. I've never driven a Ford that was a stick, and I'm really concerned about if that may be a potential problem or not. I'm considering trading my 1999 Silverado 1500 4.8 5-Speed for it. (yes, I know, Chevy, EVIL! But I recently started having major problems out of the truck, and it was my first and last Chevy, I'm back to a Ford only man. The clutch engaged right when it was supposed to, but after driving my 1500 and the couple other standards I've driven before, the clutch in the F150 was really easy to push down. The clutch in my 1500 is hydralic, and if I'm not mistaken, the clutch in the F150 is too, but I was really suprised how easy it was to push down. I didn't know if it was how they are supposed to be or not, as it takes a fair amount of effort to get the clutch in my 1500 down. The search feature isn't wanting to work right now, so any help you guys could give me would be great! I really like this truck and want to get it, but I was just alittle concerned. Thanks in advance guys!

I guess most vehicles with hydralic clutches are fairly easy to engage. I remember testing driving various trucks and though the shifting might have been very different in shift throws and confidence on making each gear but the clutches felt the same. That is no feedback. I remember the mechanical linkages and you could feel the clutch engage through the pedal. Now you need to listen to the engine or watch the tach.
Thanks alot for the replies guys! The clutch doesn't slip, and it engages properly. The only thing that worried me was how easy it was to push in. Other than that, the clutch works just as it should. I just noticed that there was a fair amount of difference between the F150 and my Silverado. Well thanks agian guys, I'm going to trade my Silverado in tomorrow for the F150, I looked at it agian today and it's very solid, plus I talked the guy down and got a good deal on the truck. Thanks agian guys. Now I'm back to being a Ford only man.
