what all do you have coming with them? do you have a wiring kit, the lead wires to each of the sensors, and the plastic boost tubing? mine came pre-assembled as much as possible and it had everything i needed.
wieckster, depends on who you get gauges from. I got mine from diesel manor, 3 gauge pillar. ISSPOR with red pointers, black face, and color pyro to match stock gauges. Gauges came with everything you you need except drill bit and tap, if don't have one(R drill-1/8-27 tap) you can buy from them. I'm very pleased with mine and the look. total $317.00 or so with interior paint and shipping.
I think I am going to order the 3 gauge pillar AutoMeter I was looking at them from Garrett at Blackcloud has everything in kit included painted pillar to match interior for 300 no shipping sounds like a pretty good deal to me yes? no?
what about heater plug and boost hookup plug I saw from Garrett at Blackcloud? sorry for all the questions I just want to make sure I get everything I need so when its time to install I have it all .
Wieckster, I also ordered from Garrett not too long ago. I highly recommend him. Emails were prompt, very professional and a very nice guy. It comes with everything needed, including some great instructions. The only thing I had to replace is the boost tee because the one supplied from autometer was too small for the map line of our Powerstrokes.
$300 is a great deal for the kit. Other places sell them for $220 or so but when you add up painting it, finding clamps for the pyro, adding the additional wiring and shipping you're at $300 or over already.
The heater and boost plug is optional and not necessary for the install. I did however, just changed myset up to using the AIH delete boost plug to run my boost line and ran a regulator on my MAP line so I won't get the SES light over 24 psi of boost. By the way, which gauge are you going to order? Here's a picture of my Phantoms.
Do I have to run a regulator on my map line or can I just run the dual boost map line ? thanks David for all your help
No problem Wieckster, I learn something new here everyday. This forum is awesome
On your map line, are you running a chip or tuner? Some chips or tuners will go over 24 psi (Especially 80+ HP programs) which will set the SES light on, then you will need either the dual relief valves or a regulator. If you're not running that high of boost then you don't have to worry about that yet. The AIH delete boost plug is a good place to read boost from plus it deletes that air intake heater...which protrudes nicely into the air passage way and blocks airflow.
For me, I ran the regulator because it's what I had laying around. Either the regulator or dual relief valves will work fine. Both will keep your SES light off. Also, becareful where you get your regulator. The one I'm using is a cheapo one from Harbor Freight (Air comp regulator) and it spikes before it regulates. So when I set it to regulate at 23 psi or so, it will spike to 35 psi and then lower to 23 psi...by then your SES light is already on lol.
I havent got any chip or programmer yet I just started my mods all I have done so far is the kwik filter, zoodad mod and I just ordered a 5" exhaust from Mark last night and ordered a wickedwheel tonight from Xtremediesel, and I want to get my gaugesordered tonight also so if I get the dual relief valve and the get the boost plug I shouldnt get the ses light on or do I need the AIHP code elimenator ?
