1933 BB brake conversion
I couldn't get the forum search to work for me, so...
I've got a 1933 BB 1.5 ton truck and am hoping someone can point me in the right direction for info on converting the mechanical brakes to hydraulic.
Any insights appreciated...
Back when I was in high school my auto shop teacher bought a '38 1.5 ton that we converted to juice brakes. We used the stock brakes from a '40 big truck. Left the '38 axle, just replaced the spindles and the new drums and all. Then installed a new dual chamber master cyl and was good to go. I haven't seen any companies offering any kind of off the shelf kit for the big trucks that will convert to discs or power. By the way, in the rear he installed was a 9 inch, so that's how he got the juice brakes for the rear. But the stcok rear from a later big truck might work, and still maintain your dual rear tires.
