Question Horn position

I am wondering if anyone has a picture of the horn mounting location and brackets. I am ready to install my grille, stone gaurd and fenders and believe the horns should go on first.

TIA

Putt

Putt, I just posted 2 pictures in my gallery for you. The horn is on the passenger side.
However, I have only 1 horn. Always have had only one, since I bought the truck in very nice condition in the late '70s.

Thanks, John!!
It appears that I need to find horns with the correct brackets or modify my existing ones. I do have a wire for both sides, but I see no place on drivers side to mount. It could be I "deleted" the hole(s) while repairing my core support!

Looks like you will be repairing your support also!

No kidding on the core support! I bought one of the repops for the '61 - '64 (although it is advertised as for up to '66) from Classic Auto Parts (formerly Obsolete Ford) and our Mid Atlantic chapter of the Slicks club compared it to the orignals. We were pleased with it. I did a write-up on the differences between the re-pop and a '65 and a '66 core support. A good friend of mine is doing the minor alterations on mine to make it fit the '66.
Also, I have 2 connections for a horn, but the one of the driver's side is not Ford, but a big old-fashioned horn. I have no idea where it came from, it was on the truck when i bought it.

horn

Hey Putt.
I have a 66 f100. had one horn from the factory located on the passangers side.
I also had the wire for one on the drivers side. the original horn was worn out so I went to the junk yard and got 2 horns from a 80's ford F250. The horns plugged right in to the existing connection, then just attached the ground. The brackets are a little different but you can tweek them to work. I just put the second horn on my 66 and you should be able to install them without removing your support or the grill. Little tight working area though. . Horns are pitched high and low. They are marked on the body of the horn. When 2 horns are used as I remember, one is high pitch the other one low.

hope this helps.

Steve

Putt Mine has always had two horns one on each side of the radiator, like steve said one high one low. Mine were both bad so I threw on a set of horns I picked up at Harbor frieght for 10 bucks. Until I can find a good set of origanals with brackets. Sorry I don't have any pictures but I do know with a little feness you can get them behind the grill I know it would be a lot easier with grill off.

Good luck

jd

Thanks for the tips, guys. I will install after modifying the bracketry. I might need to install both on the passenger side to keep from hitting my MSD box. I will look closer when it warms up a little, 30ish and has been snowing all day. Ain't spring great!!!!??
