Talking Another new Project -- SAS

Well, I aquired a new project today. (to go along with the endless list: cab lights, cab corners, paint, front window tint, seats, etc). the other day i was talking to a buddy who just so happened to be parting out a 197? ford f-150. He took the engine, transmission, and rear end that he needed for another truck and was left with the front. So, I now have a dana 44 solid front axle....and the front f150 frame (front bumper to 6" behind the radius arm brackets and everything in between). I gave $20 (good deal?) for the whole chunk so I figure I couldnt go too wrong. This summer i plan on doing the axle rebuild and SAS (solid axle swap) so ive been thoroughly searching though old threads trying to find information.
I have a couple of questions that i havent been able to find answers to. Im either going to put 4" or 6" of lift on the truck when i do the swap, do i need to look into lift springs for a 1995 f150 or for a 1977 f150 or does it matter? Also, Im going to use 33x12.50 tires, will 6" of lift be too much for those? (anyone have pictures in gallery of 6" of lift and 33s?)

Heres a pic of what i got:

i think that is all for now but im sure there will be more questions to come. (sorry if this isnt exactly the proper forum for this topic)

you can run 33" tires on an sas but it will look funny. to do the SAS property you have to have a minumum lift of 6" usually.

$20?!?!!?? Holy crap

I think you should go bigger on the tires, say 35"

I wish I had the option of a SAS, but I'm 2wd.

haha yep, thats pretty much what sold me on the idea. If it doesnt work out, i wont be out alot of money. Im thinking i may get the rest of the swap done for $500 or less. I hope.
I read on another thread that someone did put on an sas with just 4 inches of lift and made it work so i was just curious. the probelm with 35" tires is, i will have to change the gears to 4.10s when i do the swap. I thought that I might squeek by with 33" with my 3.08 gears for a while (even though they suck with 31" tires).
i will probably just go with the full 6" of lift for sure. Does anybody know how bad it would look with just 33" tires on it for just a while? I dont have a ton of cash to commit to the truck just yet. Thanks for the replies but does anybody know do i need lift coils "for" a 90s f150 or for a 70s f150 or does it matter?
Also, i see where there are no lockout hubs on the axle now (full time 4x4). I assume i can buy some warn manuals to fit it?
thanks
