interesting turbo.....

interesting turbo.....

i bought a 2000 f350, when i bought it the owner said that ford recalled the turbo 3 times because the bolts were backing out of the main housing. he said that the 4th time ford put some special turbo (he didnt know anything about it) on the truck and that solved the problem. well i have come to find out that ford put a Garrett turbo on the truck and i was woundering if it would be some sort of performance turbo, or just a stock one?

It's stock.

ITP diesel does sell a locking bolt kit for the four bolts that hold the exhaust housing onto the centersection. the stock turbo looks like this:

Yeah, Garrett is what the turbo is stock. My guess is that the "special" turbo they put in has different bolts on the housing. Ford made some interference fit bolts that are supposed to help with the bolts backing out. But, I hear they still have problems with those bolts.
