Where could i find this device?

Heres the deal, i have a video that was made a long time ago. It was made on one of those minature vhs tapes. Where could i go to buy something that would hook up into my computer so that i could edit the video and get it on a cd?

they used to make an adapter that you put your mini tape in, then you could use it in vcr.

You are looking for a *Video 8 transfer device*

They are expensive.

The best thing to do is find another video 8 player and do the editing as you copy it over.
Then once you have the edited copy ready,

Find a Analog to Digital transfer device to get the file turned into an Mpeg to then copy to your computer.

Can you view it on ANYTHING now? I use a CONVERT X by Plextor to convert any video signals to store on my hard drive, then simply use something like Roxeo Media Creator to transfer it to DVD or CD video if it's a short video. I transfer audio only (tape or records) directly onto the H.D via the Roxio program. I plug a cable (RCA to Mini Phone) right into my sound card in the computer. You can transfer any format now to digital. THe hardest part is finding a device that allows you to run the format you want to transfer FROM!

Best thing to do it get it to computer hard disk in a digital form. Then do all your editing there. You'll get generational losses going from tape to tape, so avoid this whenever possible. Once it's edited the way you want you can cut the final back out to tape. And you'll still have the original(s)

Awesome, thanks for the help guys. Ill let you in on what the video is in case your curious. Its a video of me running over one of those home entertainment stands with my truck at like 25-30mph. Only damage done to my truck was the steering stabilizer slightly bent, and a small ding in the hood. Im also gonna compile a bunch of videos of me mudding in it and i want to put a soundtrack with it. Dosnt sound too hard.

I've used Pinnacle's Dazzle device to push analog to digital, works very well.

Are you by chance talking about an old Sony BetaMax tape from the early/mid 80's? I've come across ads for people offering to transfer old tapes to DVD; maybe someone in your area offers the same service.

Once you have a player (try pawn shops, or the classifieds, or Ebay), you could use a Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150 card to record it to MPEG2 (in DVD format). If you have cable you need one of these anyway; get BeyondTV software for it and you've got an great PVR.

First thing is to determine the format, beta, super 8, vhs-c? Don't forget, if you still have the camera that you recorded it with, you could normally hook the video out to another device, that your computer takes as an input.

Search VHS-C, it IS the VHS format, in a mini size tape (not quite the same size as super 8).

The output of any device that played it should still be a standard TV video output.

It might be a lower resolution than DVD, but old movies are on DVD too.
