I have a 1976 F-150 with a 360 ci engine I recently bought a 600 cfm edlebrock
carb hooker headers and a few other odds and ends.
The block is currently at the machine shop and I am looking to buy a rebuild kit for it but I am not sure what cam to buy. I want to step it up from stock but at the same time i dont want to go to radical. can anyone help me?
The best thing you can do at this point, is not rebuild it as a 360! It's so simple to convert it to a 390 that it's kind of silly not to. All you need are the 390 crank, rods, and appropriate 360 or 390 pistons for what your target compression ratio is. Be advised though, there is so much more to it than that. Take a good look through the forums.
To directly answer your question though, I'd say the Crane 343971. A 360 doesn't have the compression ratio to support anything more.
I used an Edelbrock Performer cam in my 390 when I rebuilt and I liked it a lot. I was runninng it with flat-top pistons and the original Holley 4 barrel and it was a nice, driver.
