Is there a way to tell the difference between & original installed part ie fuel pump and later Motorcraft replacement? Is there a diff in markings or numbers? I am trying to ascertain if my fuel pump has been replaced. I have 163 K miles & the pump says genuine Ford part. If it has not been replace it is due. Do not want it failing at 0 degrees in a blizzard.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-Sep-02 AT 04:53 PM (EST)]I really dont know if they use a dealer part, but maybe did the older original fuel have metal tag screwed down on them or was that only carberators
Also you might try looking for gasket sealer that might not be factory, or even look at the bolt heads and maybe see if they are a little rounded off or anything might indicate someone had their fingers in it
didnt ford use an outside supplier latter in the 70 and early 80 instead of autolite for carbs and fuel pumps, i know my 300-6 had carter and all the 351w H.O. 4V i have seen used holleys
