Hi, i have a 1978 F100 with the round headlights. I want to convert them over to the square type. I bought the headlight buckets, the headlights, and the outer trim from a junk yard. When i tried to install them, it seemed like the square headlight buckets were too deep. has anyone tried this? if so can you give me some info on how its done?
Yes!!! It can be done... I actually swapped the complete grille from a 79 F-150 to my 77 F-150. The hardest part was finding all the bolts. I believe to make the headlights work, I had to actually flip the light holders upside down, then drill two new holes for the two that don't line up... The only other option is to actually take the whole front which might be just as well... It's less work... It's been awhile, and I may be wrong, but it DOES WORK!!!
[font color=red size=3]When I changed mine to square, I also changed the brackets that bolt to the radiator support (that hold the buckets). I'm not sure if they are different, but that's how I did it.;-)

It can be done, as I put a 1976 grille in my 1979 F250 4x4. I had to drill two holes in the core support (below the headlight) for each headlight bucket holder. You may have to drill the holes also, depending on if the core support you are using has the holes in it already.
you will need the whole bracket that holds the head light buckets. remove the shell and this will give you rome to work. you will see that you have to remove the bolts on top and underneath the head lites leave the head lite in the bucket.then replace it with the new square lites. rebolt the same way rite back where you removed the round ones.then put the shell back on the put in ur bezels.they should square to match the lites lol.im sure you got em.
