89 f150 5.0 norun situation.50#pressure@fuel rail, injectors ck out ok,plugs wet, timing correct, fire fat blue spark through new motorcraft plugs,tc21(ect)replaced,tc24(iat) replaced,tc87 fuel pump circuit failure ck out all3 pumps work properly(1hi&2lo)when key is turned on & when jumped out @dlc,replaced icm, eec(pcm),complete distributor assy. because it was less expensive than stator &drive gear & less work. fuel fresh in both tanks selector switch &valve working properly. 100psi highest reading,90psi lowest reading on compression test .fuel fire compression ought to run regardless of how ****tily right! talked to "experts" suggestions range from starting fluid to everything else that falls under heading of stating the obvious. i dont know about anyone else but its my expierence that starting fluid is the next step after checking for fuel.any help will be greatly appreciated. thanx dan
Sounds like a bad fuel pressure regulator, 50 psi is to high for a 5.0, OK for a 4.9. I think it is flooded and the injectors are leaking with too much pressure.
Pull the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator and it will more than likely have fuel coming out of the vacuum connection.
Sometimes the harness that connects to the fuse box under the hood can corrode due to age. I had a buddy with a similar problem and a few of those wires were rotted right off causing a no start situation. Computer was not communicating properly.
Just a thought.
This sounds similar to a problem i had my truck would not start and my plugs where wet. I did the tune up thing, and replaced my distributor still no start, Then i pulled the plug of my MAP Sensor and it started and ran. So i replaced the map sensor.
to chrono4:yep! got some stuff out of storage, took it up to the house, parked my truck, shut it off. tried to start it the next day hasnt started since , never sputtered never hickuped never farted.up untill that point, in 10 yrs it has never once failed me except when the tire store let it down to fast off the jack it tripped my safety switch and i found out half way home....to subford: put a new one of those on shortly after i started trying to troubleshoot this problem because i could smell fuel like it was flooded and when i would depress accelarator it would almost start but not quite ,know what i mean.........to mcanik:sounds reasonable ill try that junction next and let yall know what happened and what i found thanx fellers dan
90 and 100#s of compression is realitvly low for that motor. That could be a cause but it should still probly hit and sputter with that if that is in fact the problem. 50# of fuel pressure did fine in my 91 with a 5.0. I have an adjustable regulator on it. I had it up to 65 and ran fine. Give it a shot of ether just as a trouble shooting procedure to see if it fires with that. If not there might be numerous problems with it.
