94 oil pressure

I have a 94 f-150 w/ 5.0. One day oil pressure just dropped. Pressure fine at idle, but when revs a bit pressure drops out. engine isn't knocking when pressure goes out. any history of this out there? just want to do a pump to find it's something else

you need to check the engine with a mechanical gauge.

the stock one drops if pressure is less than 7 pounds, it is really just an idiot light in drag.

Forgot to put in that I did hook up a mechanical gage, still dropping off. I'm wondering about the relief valve.

what is the minimum pressure safe to run?

my 4.9 had the pickup screen almost completely blocked.

i always got nervous in any car that was around 15 pounds, but i do not know exactly.

try running some cleaner or seafoam.

Thanks, I'm going to try pulling the distributor and checking the shaft. If they look ok I'll run the pump with a drill. Might get some info from that. Thanks again.
