I have 33'' tires on my 78 and still have the 3.55 s in there and it looks nice and has plenty of power. Mileage isn't to horrible either.

I know it wouldn't be bad, but if you had 31s then you would have better take off, and better gas mileage(not alot, but it'd still be better).

I have 37s on stock 3.50 gears, and it sucks for acceleration and MPG, but almost got enough to regear now.

Talking go 33's

with the 33's your highway mpg would increase because of the lower rpm, but your city would get worse because the engine would have to work harder to move the rig. your speedo would also be mostly corrected. You might even want to consider some new 4.10 gears.

a good way to check how fast you are going is to use a gps. You can have someone in the passenger seat writing down what your speedo says vs what the gps says(you can't get more precise than that) and then you could put a sticker or something on your speedometer that would remind you how fast you are going.

I was going to do that again when I get the tires put on. I did it once with the 29" tires to check how off it was. Thanks again.
