Computer/Scanner 6.0L?

I was wondering about a PCM scanner. The Ford dealer using one that can pull all data up while the engine is running. There scanner allows you to turn injectors off, adjust the EGR valve and reprogram the PCM. This helps with service issues. The regular OBDII reader doesn't do anything but read the engine light codes. It will not pull a code up for a bad injector or EGR valve issue. In fact you can unplug the EGR and it will not set off the engine light. The scanner that Ford uses is around $1500 to $2500. I'm not looking spend that much money. I have use PC based programs for lap tops that use the OBDII cable. These programs allow you to monitor the engine, clear codes and use some graphs, but will not reprogram the PCM. I have seen performance programers that do some of what the Ford scanners will and reprogram the PCM. These scanners cost around the same.($700 to $1400) What are my choices if any? Thanks...
