sorry i dont think ill be scraping this old girl just got some crazy freinds and someBIG ideas and rear steering is one thanks for the spell check your good at it .href="https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-469138-hydrolic%20rear%20stearing">hydrolic rear stearing</a>
i actually found a guy on ebay who builds rear steering dana 60 axles for my truck so im going to buy it i won big on a lottery ticket and have a good size budget to build this truck other wise i would not even mess with it but i found the axle set up and im going to give it hell
Rear steer can be used quite safely if it's setup properly (just like EVERYTHING ELSE on these trucks). I'm going to be building a rear steer axle for my truck out of a D70. I was going to do it this spring but blew the budget on the engine instead. If your ebay guy doesn't handle all the hydraulic steering components let me know and I'll get you a link to a company that handles all that including the self centering sensors, positioning sensors, etc.
On another note, a possibly cheaper route which will require less maintainance and have fewer points of failure is to find a junkyard rear axle from one of the Chevy quad steer trucks. These D60's can be found for $1500-$2000 and use a rack/pinion with a motor to steer rather than straight hydraulics. It's already setup to go, you'd just need to have in cab controls.

Well, in answer to your PM, no, I haven't built nor would I build a rear steer anything.
Call me silly, but I think you will be able to:
--Have a future post about turning your truck into scrap
--Have a future post about how it's true that lottery winners often times end up bankrupt.
The factories have spent the money working the bugs out on this. Go buy a new one.
There are guy's that have been doing this for years by using hydraulic rams, pumps, and auto centering valves.
Are you planning to do this to help you on the trails?
For show?
I do know of a website or 2 that may help if you were interested
Not sure if I was any help.
Good luck
