How about some ideas about where I can get a Toyota steering box. I've came up blank locally so far and really don't want to shell out the buck$ at the parts store. Seems that there has been a lot of bailing going on around here. Also have been trying to locate an 80's model GM steering column. I used to have people wanting to give them to me to get rid of them! Go figure!

Find the website of your local 4x4 club and put a wanted ad on there. That's how I got mine
Bikewrench: Sorry to hear your having so much trouble finding a steering box and a Gearbox. I have a steering column I'll sell. I would have to find my E-bay paper work for the exact veh it was removed from. I think a Olds tilt w/key in column. This has no shifter. I was doing the same conversion as you.The gearbox I bought turned out to be no good. There is a rebuild-repair place here in Columbus Oh that sold me a rebuilt box.NOT CHEAP,$400. I"ll be willing to sell column for what i have in it Cost and original shipping .I can dig up I think. About $135 ? This is a very popular column for RODDING, it is very hard to find. I decided to use a IDIDIT Chrome Instead. My project is starting to come to close soon. I'll probably have more leftover parts for sale that I boughtNEW or USED for sale, when,I'm,done. Get back with me if interested.I don't know the presant rules on e-mail address being posted on FTE but you can try my profile. I live in Centerburg Oh about 30 miles n.of Columbus Oh. caddy 53 chuck ----- USE TRUCK PARTS FOR SUBJECT IN E-MAILS message
Thanks to everyone for your responces. I managed to find a local truck with a blown engine. A friend is buying it for parts (carb., alt., etc.) and gave me the steering! Good price. That was after I spent the day calling all the states around me. I appreciate the offer Caddy 53, I'll keep you in mind. I'm sure this won't be my last truck.
