11th hour

Well the time is almost upon me.

I have my engine all together and wired up. All thats left to do is add fluids and fire her up, and I must say, Im a bit nervous. I havent heard my truck run in almost 3 years and I keep thinking Im gonna blow something up.

I know this isnt the case, but Im a bit anxious. Ill post when I take a deep breath and turn the key. (but I have to get oil, trans fluid, and coolant)

Anyone experience this?

Rich

Yup. I had to rebuild the 2.3 Quad 4 in my Berretta (in the parking lot of the apartment complex, in the winter with snow on the ground). They are a very difficult motor to work on (mostly just a pain in the rear). I was very nervous when I fired it up for the first time. I kept going through my head...did I time it roght, did I get the mains and rods right, did I put enough lube on the cams (it has no cam bearings, they sit in the head, and the rocker covers hold them in place). Lots of thing to be nervous about. But, she fired right up, broke in very well, and she runs like a raped ape. She will keep pace with an older Vette, and blow past most of the sport compacts in the area. She redlines at 7K, and the speedo pegs at 120. I pull out of 3rd at the top of the speedo, and go into 4th at about 4300, and pull from 4th at about 6500-6800, and have yet to top the tach in 5th (too scared, cause she starts feeling a little light in 5th at about 5200). Motor still runs like it's better than new, and she gets treated with full synthetic every 3K miles or 3 months.

That's why when I'd the Rhino, I'd a specialist do the deed, That way if something did happen, it was his Farthing.
Plus I'd no place to do the work, let alone Physically capable of doing it.
