will shorties hurt?
i don't know much about tuners, but from what i've read here i gather some are adjutable. if i install shorty headers, can i or will i need to adjust timing or fuel curves. oh by the way probably going with the "edge" any suggs will be appreciated

You need to disable the rear O2s if you go with shortie headers. You didn't say what vehicle this is for, the year, engine or anythign else so there is no way I can make a recommendation. Remember, the more information you give when posting on this site the more people easily answer questions.

this is true , sometimes i forget i'm not talking to a bunch of guys that know me. The truck is a '97 150 xcab 4.6 w/ 168000 miles. as for disabling the rear o2's can i do that w/ a tuner or do i need to get sneaky with it? you seem to be the guru when it comes to tuning is this just from experience?

The guru you speak of owns this site and MotorHaven. I guess he's got experience (probably a huge amount), but it's also his job to know this stuff, and does it well. If you have'nt already, take a look at the site in his sig. How's that for a shameless plug?

For disabling rear O2s you need an SCT tuner or SCT chip.

Unfortunately the Superchips Microtuner doesn't support this, and the Diablo Predator only goes back to 1999.

going off your answer you may have answered another question. is there a difference in the factory tunes for the pi/non pi engines. if the tuners are different there must be. is there going to be a problem if i change to a pi engine. i'm also guessing that the "edge" won't disable the o2's. is the sct tuner adjustable as far as timing and fuel?

Tunes are specific to the engine/year/tranny setup. You can even have different factory tunes for the same combination. The tuner will pickup the correct program to use by reading the computer. Yes, the SCT tuner allows you to adjust timing and fueling.

first, thanx for everyones patience just a few more dumb questions. if the tune is engine combo specific, will there be any adverse affects changing engines after tuningor should i return to factory try to get the donor computer also then tune again? my next question is could i use the bbk o2 eliminators for the rear sensors? once again, don't mean to keep buggin' ya'll, i'd just like to know all the facts so I can dazzle(baffle same thing right?) the boss into giving up the cash.
