Our Marquis has studded tires all around, but she blew her left rear a couple weeks ago. We replaced it with a spare, but it just doesn't work as good as the studded ones do. We are going to finish out the winter like this, and for next winter change the tires then. The 86 4x4 will get new tires soon, since the back are pretty much at the cords.
I've been thinking about getting a set of chains for the Dually for next winter. Another thought crossed my mind, but it's a little pricey. A limited slip rear end would probably help out too. A locker may be just a bit too much, limited slip would be cool.
How much weight do you put in the back of your truck? I have a thick piece of conveyor belting cut out to the rite size to fit in the back of a 1/2 ton box that`s very heavy. I have to use my Bobcat to lift it in and out, it makes for an excellent traction aid with out taking up very much of room.

I don't have a whole lot in there. 8 rail ties right now. I was thinking about rail iron. 2 8' sections would give me about 800 pounds if I get the heavy stuff from a guy in Brandon and without taking up much space either. Still haven't done it though.
A lot of jam in that 7.3 and a LOT of weight on the front end. That doesn't help. When I hooked up my camper (24' bumber hitch) I had lots of traction. My drawbar is a 6" drop, so the weight was all set forward. Just have to get a 2" drop I guess.
I have been lucky so far. My mt/r's have been tearing through the snow! I did however get the wrangler st's on my jeep stuck tonight though haha. Looked really cool sitting half in my driveway stuck! But the 97 yanked er out real nice
Today I put my tow rope in the back too, might be more ford to the rescue. People are getting stuck all over around my house! Funny thing too, there is this one t intersection with a decent size snow pile in the middle, a guy could get around it every way. But last night I seen three different guys try to drive through the middle and they all got stuck lol.
