Ok folks, need your input, help, call it what you like.
After saving a good deal of money for paint and bodywork on the truck, she decided on Tuesday that she didn't WANT a "makeover" but rather she wants a new transmission/torque converter etc. (And some people wonder where the expression about having t*ts or tires leading to trouble originated).
So, since the fluid smells fine but looks more like candy-apple red paint with a healthy dose of METAL FLAKE added, I have decided to swap the E4OD from the 92 into the 93 (and the misses gave me grief for keeping the burnt remains of Greystreak...guess who got the last laugh there). At any rate, I have in my possession, a manual 1356 T-case from a 95, a 4" suspesnion lift, 4.11 gears for both axles, an LS for the front, an Eaton E-locker for the rear and complete bearing, shim kits for both axles. I am ordering new shocks, a complete set of bushings for the front end (axle pivot, radius arm, etc.) and new U-bolts for the rear springs as I will be swapping them to the newer rear axle housing and prefer to use new U-bolts when I do. The idea is to do a complete drivetrain-ectomy that will leave the 93 with a functioning tranny, a manual T-case and 4" of suspension lift and gearing for 33" tires. My question (finally) ; what am I missing? I have been trying to list everything and keep coming up with a different list each time.
Not looking for what I could do instead just looking for any "incidental" items that I may be overlooking.
I'm sure you've already thought of this, but JIK. Have you checked to make sure the drive shaft is long engough with 4" of lift? Personally, I don't know, but it's something to check if you havn't already.
Driveshaft is no problem 4" lift doesn't require lengthening.
Longer brake lines, check (Pro Comp stainless).
Longer axle breather hoses, check (along with new check valves).
Aha, need shift **** for T-case... www.koolknobs.com should cover that
Beer, Let's see St Louis, Missouri = Anheuser-Busch World headquarters. Ok, I'm covered.
Both transmissions are E4OD's and the 92 was rebuilt five years ago (only driven for two) so it got all of the updates that the later versions got when it was rebuilt. I think it should just be a simple swap without the need for a new ECU.
Keep it comin' guys, this is more helpful than you may realize. Thanks.
Joe

Joe, I think you've got the definition of beer mixed up! You need something English. Try a good Theakstons or Wychwood brewery - thats proper stuff. No offence but I wouldn't even use American beer to wash the truck in. LOL
*in jest*
Simon
As per the marketing slogan of Wychwoods "Hobgoblin" beer; Whats a matter Larger boy? Worried you might taste something?
Sounds like a good plan grey. But I say ditch the 1/2 tons and drop in a D60 front and a sterling in the rear.
Also, I prefer Shiner Bock, brewed right here in south texas.

Ok, Simon, as soon as I get across the pond, I'll look you up and you can show me some of that "superior" English brew! Oh and the misses says she'd rather drink Smithwick's or Guiness but I won't even begin that whole "inter-isle" controversy.
And for the record, we keep the good Budweiser HERE in STL! I've actually tasted it in cities OUTSIDE of St. Louis and my initial reaction was the same as most...."How do you people drink this stuff"?
BRK, I still have Greystreak's frame... the possibilities are endless. Considering a mud buggy project once the Bronco is finished.
Well, when I do the regearing of my Bronco the first step is: "Create another superior batch of homebrew." When I have homebrew on tap I NEVER have a shortage of help.
We haven't gotten that far off topic... I mean Broncos are, after all, "horses" right? And horses still pull beer wagons right? (well they do around here for ceremonial purposes). Who cares if Ford never made a "Clydesdale".
I've got process photos of my modified factory top going together with bottles of Budweiser in the shot next to my brother wielding a jigsaw.
Wow, suddenly my own thread has begun to contradict EVERYTHING I so profusely try to discourage. Maybe I need to get back to cutting up a Bronco body and pulling an E4OD.
GS92, I'll leave the "beer" issue alone, except to say that any brand is good if it's free!!! One problem you may encounter with the transfer case swap. I don't remember if I read somewhere or a mechanic friend told me. Somewhere around 92/93 is the break where a newer B-W 13-56 is not identical to the older version. It's possible that you may run into this problem putting a 95 t-case on a 92 E4OD. I would just check that they bolt up together with no problems before you try to install them in the Bronco. I wish I could recall the source; if I run across it in a post somewhere, I'll let you know. Other than that, I think some poly bushings would be worth considering. Good luck!!! JSM84
