Question Locker or spool?

Ok, I have a 79 Bronco w/ ford 9", and I'm going to buy a new center section from MAE Racing, and would like to know what to choose, locker or spool?

It is my mud truck, 90% of the time it is off road, but sometimes travels in town on just on the street to get to the mud.

So should I get the center section w/ a spool for $550 shipped to my house, or the third member w/ a detroit locker for $720 shipped to my house.
????????

I guess the question is how far on the road do you travel to get to the mud? it must not be very far if its 10% of the time...
If you are driving 10 or so miles and its mostly straight driving, as in no sharp turns, then Spool would probably be find.

Half the times I go, it's not more than 1 mile if that, and the other half could be around 10-20 miles. Every now and then I might drive it to town (5 miles), but not often.
I have to take a good 4 turns on pavement to get out of my neighborhood.

1 mile is nothing. id spool it. 10-20 is still not much considering you arent doing it that much...

spool it. the detroit isn't worth it unless you are going to be trail riding a lot

theres no question about it! why do you even need to ask! SPOOL! detroits offer too much slop for me. a spool is always securely locked!

The only reason I was considering it was b/c I will drive it on the road every now and then and it's less than a $200 difference. BUT looks like spool is the better route?

All right, spool it is.

How's a aussie locker sound for the front end?

well imo if you spool the rear why not the front? ...as long as you have manual hubs.

Well I got a really good deal on a aussie locker($150)shipped to my house, so I got it, and a spool is about the same price anyway. I'm going to do gear work soon, and trying to find a good set up.
Thanks for all the help so for guys.

Thanks alot, now just waiting on a little more money!
At least I'll save close to $200 going w/ a spool.
I might put that $200 towards either a winch or onboard air now.

Id go winch, if youd like opinions...
I need more money too... I need a locker and a winch, but dont have money for either... unless someone wants to donate either of those or a set of 20" rims to me...
