There is are a few threads with lots of information on this topic already. Use the search feature to find them (located in the upper right hand corner). What you'll find is basically what Thomasm67 has already said, i.e., a good working efi is much better than a carb. I think you'll find understanding and replacing the efi components much simpler than converting the truck to something it wasn't meant to be. Good luck with the search and your project, and welcome to the forum!!
Buy yourself a code reader and check some of the previous threads here on how to use it. The code reader will tell you exactly what the problem is, probably just some sensors that are out of tolerance.
thanks all i was just checking i like carb better can work on it ,lol,
also anyone had the trouble with the stearing like i was saying, this one got me stumped, not sure if its the gear box are where, it road walks back in forth pretty bad with stock tires, about 4 inchs play in stearing wheel . when i check it under could not find any parts that seemed bad, i looked at the tsb's had alot of stuff in there but nothing i could find that would tell me what to look for, i also haveing trouble dying when but in rev. it has a tsb but nothing on the cause, is there somewhere i did not see that has the causes and fix on the tsb

Once you take a little time to understand the EFI setup, you will never want to go back to a carb. Its far more reliable. Just an opinion from somone who felt as you do a few years ago. I bought a Ford Fuel injection book for the purposes of understanding how to dismantle it and swap to a carb. Found out that troubleshooting the EFI is actually much easier and it makes passing the emissions-****'s a heck of a lot easier (if you have them to deal with).
thanks, after some checking on how much i would have to pull out i guess i will try to fix it. i have a older 302 , anyone know if all the 302 blocks the same my bronco is a 89 and bearly running at the moment was going to rebuild this 302 block and do a swap, will all the efi bolt up to it ,power stearing and such, are will i have to find a later block, no sure the year of this block i will get the casting nub.s and post them if it will help yall tell me if it will work ok, i will have to do it in this way due to down time, its my every day driver and cant keep it off the road very long.
I don't understand wanting ot go to carb....Always have to adjust it, hard strating. I guess I'm just a fuel injection guy. This truck has a self diagnostic for the fuel check engine light, I would suggest using it. Fuel injection>Carb anyday IMHO.
sounds like the tv cable might be out of adjustment look and see if it is and re adjust alot peaple from the kickdown cable chevy era try to adjust it like a turbo 350 to get it to kickdown into passing gear earlier and it just messes everything up (did it had the same problem when first started driving fords)do a filter fluid changed check adjustments might save you alot of time im with the other guys on the fuel injection get it workin and forget it haha never go back to carb unless building a mud trail rig
