I have a squealing noise in the rear after I drive for 10mins or more. It sounds like crickets. It seems like once the gear oil heats up thats when it starts. It is mostly from take off to 20mph but after driving a while I hear it upto 40mph. Any suggestions???
I would look at the U joints first and any carrier bearings to see if there is any play. I don't think they have any grease fittings on them , but I would replace them with grease fitting bearings. If you grease them regularly you will never have a problem again..
I got the u-joints replaced today both on the rear d-shaft. Didnt help.No biggie shifts easier from park to drive now. The new ones are greasable any advice at getting a grease gun in there. I guess I'll have to keep driving to see if noise gets worse. Just a little concerned about possibly burning something up!
No wetness nothing leaking... Awhile back had to replace the rear seal b/c that was leaking. Did the classic oil flinging all over the undercarriage! Could anything have been disturbed when I changed that out? Another factor is it only seems to squeal at one certain point of the driveshaft rotation its not a continuous noise all the way through one revolution.
From your answer ,I'd be looking at the pinion bearings. If u-joints were just replaced.
The other is center carrier in the Drive shaft and output shaft bearing at transfercase.
