I have a problem which i believe is transmission related, and i hope the experts can answer this problem. E40D 4 speed, has about 100000 miles i guess, and its starting to act funny. First on really cold mornings, i slips third gear at about 80km/hr and wont get into overdrive for a little while, or until the vehicle warms up. While going through the gears more so when cold, it starts to shudder, no tach but it seems like the goes up and down about 50 rpm or so over and over again as rpm pick up. At slower speeds, in all gears, especially right as soon as it overdrive you hear this steady grinding noise and feel it with the gaspedal, that goes over and over again repeating itelf. When you put it in park it grinds for abit until the rpms drop down to idle. The fluid looks ok. And ideas? Thank you in advance.
It's hard to tell from your description of the problem but if you are hearing grinding noises the first thing I would do is drop the pan and check for metal shavings in your fluid/bottom of the pan. Sounds like you might need a total rebuild.
