I have a 79 F-250 351M. I need help with my air pump to pass the emissions test. Is there a bracket that hold the air pump in place? My old one that didn't work was held on by 1 bolt. Also, I need to know where the hose that comes from the air pump goes. Doesn't it connect to the intake manifold? Please help. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated.
From what I recall my 1978 f250 with a 400 had the air pump down around or above the altenator, the bracket that mounted the altenator had a spot to mount the air pump with a long bolt, then the back of the air pump had a small bolt that tighten to a bracket that had a groove so you could adjust the air pump to tighten the belt that runs the air pump, the air pump set up is very similar to the altenator. From the air pump comes a hose that connects to the bypass valve and then another hose comes off the bypass valve and clamps onto a check valve that threads into the top of the intake mainifold infront of the 2bb carb. Go to ebay and type in this number 4607136954 and check out the pictures of this v8 engine, hope this helps.
Thanks for the info.....Check valve is taken care of now i just need to know about the bracket. Anyone still have a working air pump on thier 351m? I just need to know how it gets mounted. Thanks
Look again on ebay #4618912096 you can see what the bracket looks like and where it is located, under the altenator, could try a ford dealership of a junk yard, all v8 would be likely the same if the block was similar.
