Fan Clutch Problems?

I have a 1997 F150 4WD w/ 4.6L. How do you know if the fan clutch is going bad? In the morning, after I back out of the driveway and start to accelerate, I hear a wooshing sound and then it goes away in about a second or two. What do you think and how hard is it to replace.

Not Hard To Replace If U Know What You Are Doing. Not Sure If What You Are Describing Is A Fan Clutch Though. More Info Might Be Helpful.
