I doubt that i am in the right section but i need help. i have a 98 windstar and the interior lights will not go out it keeps saying that a door is ajar. I was told to wd40 the snesors and joints and that worked for a little bit but now i am down to having to take the fuse out which means i have no power windos either. I though maybe it was the wedge front cause i have noticed that part ofit is broken, but when i ordered the part i thought i needed i got the opposite part of what i need. I cannot find anywhere to see what even the part i need is called. i am so confused and sick of my van. i just replaced the powersteering pump and pulley and now i have to replace the timing cover gasket and then i need to reploace my manifold runner controls. I don't know if ti will ever end. But please if someone can help me with my first 2 issues i would be so appreciative

The problem with these "door ajar" sensors is that they sit under the door latch facing up and collect water, dirt and car wash overspray. Ford should have put them on top of the latches and had them facing down. Oh well.
Anyway, spray them LIBERALLY with WD-40 and open and close the door a hundred times. The dealer will have a hookup that will tell you which door is the problem, but usually it's the driver's door. (Because it's the door that gets used the most) However, if you've got a significant other that goes with you all the time, it may be the passenger door also.
If this does not fix your problem.......you need to replace the sensor. Not a fantastically easy job, but it can be done by a shade tree mechanic.
