I'm sure this topic has been discussed but I did a few searches and couldn't seem to find anything. I'm looking for a scanner to read my transmission codes. Preferably something fairly inexpensive and reliable. Anyone know of a scanner like this. I've looked at a few on website but I'm not sure which makes and models will work and are any good. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I'll have to check at wally world. But all the readers I've looked at say except 7.3 1994. Are they just referring to the powerstrokes in 1994? I have a 1994 factory turbo diesel IDI in my 94. Will any OBD1 scanner work?? I've never used any of these vehicle code scanners before so I'm a little green on them.
Mine just states 86-95 7.3 diesel, but there is info close by refering to the 95 ranger and windstar saying "excludes". I believe the first PSDs used the OBD1 too.
95 Windstar was the first year Ford that started using the OBD II. Totally different animal all together. I recently purchased an OBD II reader at Princess Auto for my 95 Windstar. For years you could not get an in-expensive reader for the OBD II.
Not sure what the 93 and 94 turbo diesels would fall under. My guess would be OBD I.
