Fuel system problems with my 96 explorer
I have been having problem with my 96 Explorer starting at certain times. If the engine is cold then it will start right up, if you run the engine to normal operating temp and shut it off it will start back up, but if you let it sit for a while (usually a half hour to hour) it won't start. If you let it set for a while longer it will start after the engine is completly cooled down. Sometimes you can get the engine started by pumping the gas a little while it is trying to start. I can get the engine to start and run when it wont't start by spraying a little starting fluid in the air system. After the engine is started it seams to run fine. I replaced the fuel filter already. I was thinking maybe the fuel pump or bad injectors, but I am not sure. Any Ideas?

When you turn the key to the ON position, you should hear the fuel pump prime for a second or 2. If you don't hear that, it could be the fuel pump, or the fuel pump relay. Do you hear the pump prime?

I can hear the fuel pump priming and when I took the vacume hose off of the pressure regulator it was dry. I am not sure if it was a jus luck or what but after I pulled the vacume hose and put it back my explore started right up.
