I regret to say that my 88 f250 no longer exists in a usable state! the truck I was restoring and using on a daily basis caught fire and burned till it is now just a hunk of burnt junk.!
It wasn't becuase of that cruise control switch that is recalled was it? Maybe you could get Ford to pay for replacing it or give you a new truck. I don't know if they would do anything or not.

Everyone wants a handout. Some guy's truck burns up and you automatically want Ford to pay for it? Unbelievable. It's an 18 year old truck. I don't like hearing that someone's project burned up but don't automatically play the blame game.
At this time I am out of town working, so it still hasn't sunk in yet! I have not had time to go look at it again. I think the fire started near where the wire harness goes through the fire wall on the drivers side. This is where the fusible links are. I know there were some wires with dried insulation. When the fire started it could have been put out but My truck didn't have a fire extinguisher in it. The Texaco staion had one but it had not been checked since 2001 and did not work. the station manager said that they did not have a water hose either. By the time the fireman got there it was too late.
