New Super Duty will be 2008

Just got back from Detroit at a Ford Seminar. The 2007 SD will be made from August of 06 through december of 06. Nothing major will change. January of 07 is the debut of the 2008 SD with the 6.4TT diesel.

Unhappy

It sucks that we have to wait that long, but I guess there is a good reason why we do,at least I hope there is. I need a new truck very soon and I wanted a diesel but I guess that is out of the question now.V-10 here I come! p.s. Chevy and Dodge is not an option.

Fusion,

Does the "nothing major will change" comment mean that the revised interior, front clip and rear update will not be available on the August '06 release or that "nothing major will change" for the engines other than the future release of the (Jan '07) 6.4TT? What about revised frame, tranny, suspension...etc? Please clarify for me.

So will there not be a 2007 MY with a diesel? The 6.0 doesnt meet the new 2007 model year diesel emissions standards. How will they get around that if they dont put the 6.4 in for 2007? Just wondering. thanks

The MY 2007 will still be calender year 2006. So the current 6.0 is still viable. However on Jan 1, 2007 it will cease to be.

i think that it will be the same as the case with changing from OBS trucks to the current 00-06 superduty style. there is a late 97 model and an early 99 model, yet there is no 98 superduty. i think this will be the same thing, a late 06 6.0, and then an early 2008 6.4TST.

i sure hope the 6.4 sounds like a "diesel", 7.3 or 6.0. i sure hope it doesnt sound as quiet and "yuppy-happy" like the durasmack is. it doesn't even sound like a diesel. that is one thing i hate.

I hope it sounds like a diesel too but only when I'm outside the truck, I want a quiet interior. I hope they use some of the soundproofing technology from the F150 ..

This thread contradicts this find; which 'may' not be authentic. However, it does say 2007 MY will be the 6.4L TT:

ford can install if they want to the 6.0 in all trucks built up until midnight december 31st 2006 with out getting fined. jan 1st is when the tier II must be used and if not they face a fine on each unit. my guess is there will be a short 07 year and a early 08 year.

I talked to my tech, and rumor is that the 6.4 is going to be even more fun to work on than the 6.0. Rumor also has it that ford has made it much easer to lift the cab off the chassis to help with this.

I hate to say it, but this Jan 1, 2007 release date for the 6.4 sounds like Ford is backing into another pre-mature release date for a brand new diesel motor.
