I have a problem with a pull to the left when I brake. I've had my Ex in to the dealership a couple of times and they haven't resolved the pull. Service rep tried to tell me that it was not uncommon to have a brake pull in these super duty trucks, and the 4X4s are more common. I have a hard time believing it and told him that I've never had a truck pull when braking unless it was out of adjustment or something wrong with the pads. I have done brake work on all my vehicles in the past so I do have some experience with brakes. Dealership has turned the rotors, swapped rotors and pads from right to left, bled the brakes, replaced the calipers, replaced the rotors and pads and I still have the pull. The initial step on the brake is the worst and after the initial pull it doesn't keep pulling it stops straight. Has anyone else experienced a braking problem like this one. I am tired of talking to this dealership and plan to visit another one. I am close to contacting the Ford regional field engineer as a friend suggested.
I had the same problem when I bought my excursion. They put new pads and new rotors and new calipers on it and solved the problem. I fought with them for a week to fix it and it finally took me threatening to bring it back a give me a new car with the same value of my excursion. So you have to stick to your guns and dont back down.
I'm also having the same problem with the same vehicle. I've replaced pads and rotors front and rear because of excessive rust. I did find that the locating pins on a front caliper were frozen and I was able to free them up with heat. I still have a pull, but not as bad. I did notice during the pad replacement that one of the caliper pistons was difficult to retract, so I worked it many times until it seemed freeer. Still a pull. My next task is to replace that caliper. I'll try to keep you posted on the results.
