Hi everyone,
A couple of weeks ago I got rear ended and decided to send my truck to the body shop to find anything wrong. It turns out that the only things that needed to be replaced were the bumper, hitch, and some minor work to tailgate. (had I known this I wouldve do it myself) I just got the truck back and am not happy at all. Nothing was done right. At this point I just need to get the hitch done right so I can tow. The hitch they gave me is a class V eaz-lift hitch. In order to fit it around the spare tire they bent it and i think made it a little crooked to get it on. This cant stay like this obviously, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a good, heavy duty class V hitch that will fit well on my 1997 f350 reg cab. The factory hitch is not made anymore.
find a rv shop near you and check what they have. as a 5 is a little odd in smaller stores and shops . around me i find mostly class 4 's ,even northern tool only has a class 4 with a 6k and 600 tongue . for $140.00. i think if your going to find one. a rv store will be the one to help you the most. even if you only are looking to find the brand and model info so you can shop some more.
I found a couple that should be what I need. The draw-tite is rated up to 12,000 lbs and the Putnam is rated up to 15,000lbs. Hidden Hitch also has one rated to 12,000 lbs. Does anyone have any input on the better hitch? I will probably never need to tow 15,000lbs but I want the strongest, most durable hitch I can get.
I ordered my 2004 without hitch, salesman thought I was crazy, I told him the Ford hitch was a POS. I have a Draw-Tite on my 2004. 10/10000 WC 12/12000 WD. I like it. Philip.
We have a new hitch accessory called the HitchSafe Key Vault which allows you to securely store spare keys within your 2 inch receiver hitch and can only be accessed with the proper 4 digit code. Guys take a look and please give us your comments.
Thank You
i sustained the exact same damage in a rear end accident. I ended up with a factory 10,000 hitch, but it only comes with a 2" receiver. Theres an insert that you can put in it but supposedly it reduces the weight rating. The new hitch is obviously beefier than the old one, and I am very happy with it. I think I still have pictured in my gallery of the TC
Draw-tite hitches are the best in my opinion we install hitches were I work and the quality seems much better than the reese or the Vally products. I have seen a couple of trucks that the trailers have bent the reese hitches in a panic stop.
Just my opinion.
