Teflon tape?

Guys when I install my sending units to the heads, block and transmission do I need to use teflon tape?
any tips? Thanks ~Gage~

i don't think so. i would think pipe dope would be better as it should not plug up a line of it comes off while turning it in. tape has it's places and this is one i would not care to on.

Had one of our buddies loose a road race he was leading because his oil pressure sender on his Rabbit got a little piece of teflon tape in it and kicked on the warning light. Gage, go out and get the little 4oz bottle of Permatex teflon thread sealer. It comes with an applicator brush attached to the lid and should last you 2 or 3 lifetimes.

Permatex thread stuff, good idea!

In a pinch, I've used RTV too. Or Permatex High-tack. I used to use teflon tape on everything, but got nervous about it after finding it in an oil pump pickup screen Not my motor, so it wasn't my tape, but still...
