actually i like my 355s much better than the 373s in my wifes 4x4. 355s are highway gears, so you get much better fuel mileage. I've raced a few trucks with 5.4 like mine except they had 373s and i beat them off the line every time. But actually i do not think there is too much difference between the two gear sets. I'm just luck i guess because my 5.4 pulls like a horse.

I also have 3.55 gears and 285 70 tires and there seems to be plenty of power. I have a SCT X3 from Mike at www.5startuning.com which also helps of course. I can beat my brother's 02 Chevy 5.3 with a Superchips tuner (brag brag). But i dont pull much either

I have 3.73 LS and can't complain to much. It is 2wd so I am not getting out in the mud/sand. Not towing or hauling so they are not being used for the original intent of this truck(to tow a small travel trailer). The rpms are alittle high on the highway but also seems the low rpm acceleration is somewhat lacking, stock.

This seems a bit incongruous. Acceleration should better with the lower gears. I wonder if there's a program at work in the engine computer restricting power application under certain conditions.

It could just be my perception. Seems like the truck doesn't really like to get going until the engine is at 3000rpm or higher. I think I am just expecting to much and have gotten use to the truck. I know it is quicker than my 98 that had the 4.6L with 3.55 rear.

Get myself a Gryphon is the next thing it looks like. Not sure if I want to spring for the supercharger and be without my truck for a week. Actually don't know if I trust myself enough to have a supercharger.

3000 rpms at highway speed with 373s??? My wifes 4x4 has 373s and cruises at 70mph at roughly 2000 rpms. My 5.4 with 355s runs 70 mph at about 1800 rpms.
