How does the factory front limited slip differential handle in snow and ice and on dry pavement when the front hubs are engaged??
it is a bear on pavement with the hubs in. you deffently have to be awake. kind of likes to go or wonder on the road. does ok in snow. There is a lot of difference in my 93 and 94 and i contribuite it to the posi. even with hubs out they are completly different. Not necessarly bad but differnet. I will get my owners manual out tonight and see what it says about the code. I am kind of shure that on mine it is posi. whith that code.

It seems from your description--if the truck tracks like that when the transfer case is in two wheel drive and the front hubs are engaged--your truck most definitely has front limited slip.By the way--only 3.54 front differential ratios had factory front limited slip from Ford. The original owner of my 92 F150 wanted front limited slip--but they also wanted 4.10/4.09 axle ratios to pull a trailer and Ford wouldnt install 4.09 limited slip in the front axle.
Or you could take a look at the passenger side front axle--look at it from behind the passenger front wheel--there should be a sticker that has been placed on the rear of the passenger side axle housing--upside down. This sticker will tell you the axle ratio and if the differential is open/standard or limited slip.
You could also verify if the front axle is a limited slip by jacking up just one of the front wheels --and with the front hubs engaged--it should take at least 20 foot pounds of torque to turn the wheel--with the transfer case in two wheel drive.
Ford only installed factory front limited slip on trucks with manual hubs and with 3.55 rear/3.54 front axle ratios on the F150s.

i have a question too. on the picture of your door tag. there is the DSO spot is the 21 the code or is that somehting else?
DSO stands for District Sales Office and when the code is just two characters--it tells you which district the truck was ordered from. Code 21 means:Atlanta,Georgia. The truck was originally ordered from/sold to a dealer within the Atlanta Ford Sales District.

Kind of makes me wonder if I want a LS front....... I don't do much off roadin'/mud slingin'.
See the link I added. It's not where the truck was built, rather which District Sales Office the order was processed through. Most trucks I've looked at around here were built in the Norfolk Assembly Plant. I think that's what I remember seeing on the sticker.....
