Hey guys I need some help finding a 428 crank. The machine shop thought my crank was a 428 but turns out it is only a 390. Engine has been built using top of the line 410 pistons. Machinist is offering to pay for 428 crank to make it right. please help I checked dsc motorsports they have them but they are 525$ now. thanks.
maybe advance auto, they are still $300+ and may be .020 or .030. You are probaly better off using the 390 and reworking the pistons. Sure the 410 pistons work with a 390 but the compression is weak.
Wow only $525 from dsc plus shipping and this is a used crank he just yanks and ships without grinding, a quick high dollar profit. This is why he's rich with your money. This reminds me to go reoil the three standard size 428 cranks in the shop, sorry not 4 sale, the price of his sheet seems to go higher.
With that said you should find one between 250 and $400 some where else, keep looking you'll locate one. Remember to rebalance, preferably internally for a smooth 410.
.....=o&o>.....
DSC has a flawed business procedure in my view. bought a 390 block a while back for a friend and it came with mis matched main caps from at least 3 engines.
I was thinking it was just me pissed at his flawed business practices but he seems to have a on going bad track record with others also. A buy (screwed once) customer clientele record unless your not smart enought to figure it out he's in it for the money and you buy again getting deeper in debit with his overpriced worthless junk. Wake up and shop around as there are other used parts suppliers out there people it's a big country.
Gashog, any progress on that build?
