Question Feels like Warped Rotors?

I replaced the front rotors and pads, and the rear pads a little less than a year ago. Now for about the past three to four months it ocasionally feels like the rotors are warped or are warping during times of a lot of braking activity. I used factory replacement parts from Advance Auto. I also have 31 x 8.5 BFGs on it. Does anybody think it is the rotors, drums or another problem. I don't think it is the drums though because I can apply the parking brake while driving and I don't get the warped feel (Bump, Bump, Bump...)

If you are getting the vibrating/ pulsating feeling while braking, I would guess it would be warped rotors. Since the new rotors have not been on that long, I would check to see if one of your calipers is sticking.

I have had rotors that had to be turned within weeks of putting them on my truck, had one set for my Aerostar that came new warped.

If they won't warranty them, a really good turning machine will straighten them out but it is usually a one shot deal because they end up taking so much off (in spots). I had a warped pair on my old truck and it wasn't fun driving in the winter with them.

It may be that your rear brakes are not adjusted right so the front are doing more work than the rear and they are warping due to the work and heat.

The front brakes do better than 60% of the actual braking anyway. I'd look for a dragging caliper or even tire pressure discrepancies across the front axle. The OEM steering setup wastes no time sending any and all vibrations and anomolies up through the column.

How should I go about checking to see if a caliper is dragging? I know it is nearly impossible by eye with the wheel off because the calipers are not pulled away from the disk when the brakes are let off. Also, I have been told it is damn near impossible to keep the rear brakes constantly in adjustment because the automatic adjusters are junk. What should be done to keep the rears in proper adjustment at all times.

To see if the fronts are dragging, jack up the front of the truck and spin the front tires. If they don't spin easy, come to a stop relatively fast, or one stops spinning a lot faster than the other, you have more than likely found a sticking caliper.

After thinking about what I typed I thought to myself, duh. About the fronts anyways. But I still am wondering about those rear brakes.

Does anybody have any good tips to keeping the rear brakes in adjustment without too much work? I just think that every time I adjust them they feel like they are out of adjustment again after a month or two.

This sticking of calipers seems to be a good target area, or in my case they aren't working at all. Example: my left front brake hose rotted out and so the assembly in there wasn't doing anything at all, but it felt like warped rotors. Only the right was pulling.
Well it is doing it again now (left side not working right) so I dunno what it is doing.

I would give your system a good bleed job. I have found this to fix pulsating peddles.
