getting 93 f150 engine codes

I have a 1993 F-150 5.0L E4OD, the truck will flood ( fuel ) on very cold mornings. I have to step on the gas to get it started. I runs real rough, until it warms up. The engine light sometimes comes on. Can I still get engine code when my engine light goes off. I would like to get the codes, is it the same kind of (DLC) plug as on my 1987 F-150. I have a Haynes manual it says to but put a jumper wire (paper clip) from STO ground to STI connector, is the picture below correct for my year? Also do I have OBD2 system?
Thanks
  1. Start engine and bring to normal operating temperature. If engine will not start or stalls after starting, proceed with next step.
  2. Turn the key "OFF", then wait ten seconds.
  3. Activate the self test by grounding the Self-Test Input (STI) connector.
  4. Turn the ignition key "ON".
  5. Record all codes received.
  6. Turn ignition "OFF".

Yes that is the way you do it and your plug is the same in both years.
No you do not have an OBD2 system in 1993.

Those instructions are correct for your 93. It is not OBD-II.

Yes it is OBD I. I believe 1995 was the last year of OBD I, some trucks might of had OBD II late in 1995, but 1996 all had to be OBD II.

173 kOER running only ??? HEGO sensor circuit indicates system rich (right side)

When i did the KOEO, i did the KOER (Engine running engine warmed up) and got 4 blinks. Whats that mean, i needed to turn the steering wheel and press on the brake?

The 4 blinks mean that you have 8 cylinders.
Yes you needed to turn the steering wheel and press on the brake.

I replaced my Map sensor with a new one from my 87 which had a new sensor, same part number. Is 15 minutes of idling in the drive way long enough to recheck the codes? I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes before checking the codes. I got KOEO (engine warm and not running) 111-111-1-163-163 now.

I checked the spark plugs and they have a lot of carbon on them. Is it good to drive with it running really rich? Could I be getting fuel in the oil? I also did a quick fuel pressure test with a tire gauge while it was running and got 31 lbs. What's happens if I unhook the o2 sensor to see if it runs better?

The EEC has no sensors to check on the Thermactor air system. This must be a conclusion it comes up with using the data from the O2 sensor.

Did you unhook the o2 sensor?

NO, you said you were going to un-hook it and I was thinking that might be why you got the code you got.
