INTERVAL WIPERS PROBLEM

My 79 Bronco with the optional interval wipers has a gremlin. Since electrical isn't my forte, I am wondering if anyone has seen this same problem and has a solution. My wipers will not shut off! Once turned on, they will stay on even if the switch is shut off. To turn off the wipers, the ignition has to be shut off at the EXACT moment the wipers are down (the park mode at the bottom of the windshield), if not, the wipers will stay running. The 2 speeds work correctly, but when the switch is rotated to counter clockwise to the interval mode, the wipers stay at low speed. I have replaced the switch, electronic wiper black box, and checked the ground, with no luck. The control box was hideously expensive, and I hope that isn't the problem- I may convert back to regular wipers if that is the case. Any help would be much appreciated!!!

INTERVAL WIPERS PROBLEM

It sounds to me like the black delay box has a short in it somewhere. Rather than buying a new one, go to the junkyard. The 80's trucks with delay wipers plug right in to your existing wires. The only change is that the new style switch doesn't have a separate hot wire coming into it for the w/s washer pump. These are easier to find, and cheaper. I got four of the switches and boxes for $15. Good luck.

INTERVAL WIPERS PROBLEM

How do you hookup the washer system then??

I can't find the interval system new (like I've heard is possible), and haven't checked the 'yards yet. (I WANT INTERVAL WIPERS)

Eric, do you have any systems for a 78? (not the 80's style)

Thanks

INTERVAL WIPERS PROBLEM

Mine did this once, I had to pull the motor and clean all the contacts in it, they had some corrosion, and the contact to "park" the wipers was not working correctly.

INTERVAL WIPERS PROBLEM

I have picked up quite a few (6) in the last year or two. That is excluding the 3 I allready put in my Ford trucks. The ones I have are from 1977, 1978, 1979's. I could part with 5 or 6 of them. send me a message.
