Why cant I find a easy way to lift my 80 f250 front ttb axle and just do a shackle flip on the rear?Im only looking for about 4in and to do some moderate mudding and drive up north hunting etc.
Im confident i can do the shackle flip but dont want to do it till i know whats going on with the front.
Ive looked all over and havnt seemed to find a easy way without spending a bunch of cash on a whole lift kit.Cant i buy just the stough for the front like the axle drop brackets and maybe some blocks or something.
I dont have the cash for a sas at the present because the tires and wheels on layaway are taking up my spare change for now.
with lift kits you get what you pay for. even if you found that magical lift for $100 something would be wrong. the brackets would be too thin or the bolt holes owuldn't line up... or there would be no bolt holes, drill them yourself! like a friend of mine tells me all the time "you can do things quick, cheap, or easy... you can only pick 2 and the other suffers" do it cheap and it wont be easy or quick. do it easy and it wont be cheap, although it would prolly be easy.
The easiest thing to do might be to find a HP 44 front out of a '77-79 F250 with matching gears are your current rear axle and throw that up front. Should be a bolt in deal. If it isn't fishy could tell ya what is all involved in throwing a solid axle up front in that year of truck.
so buy a piece at a time until you are ready to go.another option is to go on pirate 4x4 and look in the classifieds there are always people in the area with 44hd's.too bad you are so far away i've got one to get rid of but the shipping would be a killer.
Waiting to go with a lift kit is a good idea that makes a lot of sense.I dont have many fabricating abilities at the present im working in my driveway out in the cold.
I was thinking about going with 35s but i may not be able to do it without a lift.Thats probably better for now anyways because i have a tired six cyl engine and from what i read 33s will fit right now and not have to change gearing or anything.
When i finally get my tires ill be sure to put pics up.
