Rear end problems?
I have '83 1/2 ton rear end with 3.54 gears that I would like to put under my '77 4x4 in order to match the front gears. I am trying to make a weekend mud truck for as little money as possible. I was given this rear end for free so I want to use it if possible. The problem is, that it has 2 teeth half broken off the ring gear. How serious is this problem? I know the truck ran fine with the rear end like this, but how long can I expect this to last? I'm not looking for a high performance machine, just one that will run. Should I put the rear end in and just run it till it quits, then fix it, or take another route? Can anybody help?

It is not a 9" I don't think. Are all 9" diffs. drop outs? This particular one has a cover over the rear of the housing. I have not measured the ring though.
