Harmonic Balancer
I've got an I300 engine that I've modified with
Holley 390
Offenhauser manifold
260 comp cam
ceramic headers
msd ignition
1.94", 1.60" valves
9.5:1 ratio
How important is an aftermarket harmonic balancer? What kind does the stock engine have? internal or external balanced.
What weight is it? Can I use one for a V8?

Harmonic Balancer
I'm researching how to hotrod the 300-6 and found out some on the harmonic balancer issue. Clifford has one, apparently the torque wrap or flex that happens with the longer crank can cause belt-driven accessories to self-destruct, and the further you hop up the engine, the worse it gets. Harmonic balancers are expensive, but after replacing alternators and power steering pumps how many times, when does it become cost effective? I don't know...
