What would be the best way to cut off the rusted portions of the rear quarter panel on my old Bronco? I would then replace the quarter panel with an after market job. I am a long time woodworker who is making the transition to body/metal work.
So, can I make a decent cut with a metal cutting disk on my 4" angle grinder?
Or, should I use the metal blade on my reciprocating saw? I thought that might cut too deep, though.
Then I have read that the replacment panel can be attached using rivets or screws, which then would be ground down before using filler.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Keep in mind this isn't a restoration job, since the Bronco is my faithful fishing/hunting truck. It just getting too full of holes for my taste. Runs great though.
Remember to wear heavy gloves, safety glasses and a face shield. If those cutting disks get jammed and break they can fragment badly. Do not ever put your body parts in line with the rotating disk.
