I got tired of looking at the old cracking red decals on my 97 F150's tailgate. So, since I own my own vinyl business, I thought I should take a little time to make some replacement decals. I used premium red reflective vinyl.
Those are really nice....Say what state are you in Ogriv? I only mention it because I make color dispersions for Vinyl applications. Do you make some other decals? My tailgate 93 has no letters or indentations for anything, just smooth.
Yours really sets it apart. Will it last long, lightfastness?
Thanks for the compliments! I'm in Ohio, and I make all sorts of different vinyl decals. Most of my vinyl is designed for RC planes, but I end up making alot of signs and banners to help pay the bills . 3M rates this vinyl for 7 years as long as it is applied to a vertical surface. This same vinyl is often used on Fire Trucks and other emergency vehicles.
Here are the specs of the vinyl as supplied by 3M.
■ Top of the line reflective from 3M
■ Excellent conformability to simple curves
■ Engineering Grade
■ 7 year durability
■ 7 mil thickness
■ Resists cracking in cold weather
■ Retains reflectivity when totally wet
■ Control-Tac Repositionable, pressure-activated adhesive
■ Meets or exceeds Federal Specifications; L-S 300C (Reflectivity 1), ASTM-D-4956-99
Hey I would order a black "FORD" decal set for my truck about 4 inches tall or so. And reflective would be nice for my tailgate. Also, can you get non-reflective black for other decals for my car. About 2" tall.
I can make the single pigment dispersions for Vinyl or match to a color, but never have seen what the Converters do with it afterwards. I have been to "Lakeside Plastics" in Oshkosh, WI but they are mostly silk screen and traffic cones.
DAJF150, I do not have permission to sell any of my products through this web site, or it's PM system, my account would be banned. You would have to contact me outside of this website. I was just showing what I did with my truck.
Ogriv, I understand and I did not mean to imply or go out of bounds. Perhaps you can Private Message me, or something like that and we can chat outside.
Thanks, It is nice to see what others have done to there trucks, especially novel new one of a kind things...
