Supercharger help!

Does anybody know if Edelbrock makes a supercharger for a carbureted 302? If not...does anybody have any suggestions as to what company makes a good one to put on that 302? How much trouble would it be to supercharge the motor anyhow?

Edelbrock doesn't but if you can get ahold of a Summit mag there's a roots type blower in there, about 2,500.

Summit

Also BDS makes a r.t blower for the 302 as well

BDS

you can get a cetrifugal type but need the propper supplys to make it feed into the carb.

What is the difference between roots type and centrifugal? I've heard these terms before but don't know what they mean. All I know is that a Ford Lightning has a roots type.

Paxton showed off a new Novi 1000 for carburetor use. Should be able to check it out on their website. a ROOTS blower has 2 lobes that mesh and push the air into the engine and run at fairly low rpms around 10,000 -14,000. Centrifugal supercharges use a wheel, fairly small in diameter, with blades and run at very high rpms 40,000 and up. This requires a wheel (impeller) that is efficient at high "hang on" when the rpm's rise.

A centrifugal could be considered like a belt driven turbo so to speak.

Most truck guys like the roots for the pure fact they work down low.
