Yup, it's a lot easier on the equipment when it's plugged in, when I start up my diesel it smokes, even when it's plugged in, but it warms up much quicker & usually quits smoking after a few minutes.

The oil pressure seems to come up quicker when the 7.8 Ford turbo is plugged in, even with 0/40 synthetic. It did start the other day sitting in the unheater shop at minus 12 which I don`t like to do. It too did smoke alot more for alot longer.

Yeah for the time it takes to plug it in, it will probably save you alot of headaches in the end! I cant imagine it is too good for them starting cold like that!

No kidding. Especially the inline heaters. The in-block ones don't pull quite as much, but the don't heat up the big blocks that well.

My 7.8 Ford diesel has two in the block that do warm it up nicely and when plugged in the shop lites do dim slightly.
