USMCR 14 years total, starting in July 1965. Riffed following the glut of SNCOS after Nam. Got out as E6. Engineer maintenance, Motor Transport, maintenance, license NCO, maintenance chief, AMTRAC Recovery chief (LVTR7). I now build ships for the Navy, and yes, I have worked on the Enterprise, and every Nimitz class flattop, also the JFK and now CVN21.

Is the CVN 21 what they are calling the X-Carrier or something?

Is the ex-W.O. Darby still kicking around NNSBDDC or did they finally sink it? What a POS that was to live on while a carrier was being rehabbed.

Just re-upped for the last time. Now if my base would only stay open long enough for me to retire I'll be golden. Been tough to be a reservist in this area but almost there. Doing a couple months active duty later this year - that will help the points total.
Better check your information out. Last I knew, you had to do 8 years continous in 1 service in order to retire with pay. You might be able to retire, but not draw when you're 60.....Hope that helps.

Don't know about the W.O. Darby, there is still some kind of floating barracks on the south yard waterfront. We are calling it CVN21, a new class for a new century. I think you are correct in the CVN-X as another term for it. Currently we are building the last Nimitz class carrier, the George Bush.

6 down, 6 to go in the USAFR. Adds up to 12 in a row in one service. I don't HYT until 2019 so if 12 ain't enough, I'll give 'em more. I love this stuff.
