2 choke cables?
2 choke cables?
back when i bought my truck, it had 2 choke cables that were hooked up and functioned normally. When i got it the motor had to be replaced. After that only 1 of the cables was hooked up. So where does the other one go? The one thats hooked up pulls the butterfly valve closed, so i dont know what the other one does, or where it goes.
Back when my truck was made (and I don't know for how much longer) there was the standard choke cable and available as an option, a throttle cable a/k/a hillbilly cruise control. As the name implies, it connected to the carburetor the same place the gas pedal does. If you ever paced a piece of farm machinery through a field, you know why it was offered. If you haven't, think of hay/straw balers or combines that can empty themselves as they go along. The throttle control would also have been useful to anyone with something attached to the PTO output on the transfer case, at least on a truck like mine which has such.
Long ago it was a common item. Certain machinery obviously have a need for it but throttle cables on road vehicles were outlawed way back when.
Considering all the people that panic and step on the gas pedal instead of the brake, it's not hard to imagine why.
