looks like a long wearing tire, and pretty good for highway manners and some snow, or cruising around the mall... i'd probably still go for the bf or procomp x-terrain over it though if i was gonna be in the mud... JMO
The other mud tire looks pretty standard (kind of like the General Grabber MT or Goodyear Wrangler MT), old school sizes though, nothing bigger than 33x12.50R15.
Eric I have run the ones you posted on a couple of different vehicles, and they work really good, and wear like iron although not quite as hard as groundhawgs. If you look in my gallery at the picture of the brown ranger thats whats on it.
one set lasted 65k miles on a 3/4 ton pickup that towed a lot.
Some people just love to argue. Thanks for your input.
dude, whats your problem? MT/R's wear nice and are good for trails but they are far from any kind of mud tire. hell just a glance should tell you that!
That wasnt an argument. I was giving you information.
I guess I wont do that for you anymore and you can just continue to make your bad comparisons.
Sorry if I insulted you dude. I probably should have taken your advice and shut my hole.
I was only trying to get input on the new stuff for off road. So far, I think that only 3 people provided comments specifically about the tire in question. That is what I wanted to hear.
Yes you are right, the MT/R is not as much of a mud tire as it is a "slightly more agressive than an AT tire" it sure as heck isn't a SS bogger or an ag tire. I guess that I probably should have titled the thread " New Off Road tire", that would have been more fitting.
However, as a comparison, the MT/R, BFG MT, Toyo OC MT, Cooper Discoverer STT II and this new Hankook have similar tread patterns in terms of lug spacing, void ratio, intended purposes, sidewall styling, sizes, etc.
Does the Goodyear website specifcally call the MT/R out as a tire that is meant for off-road specifically calling out mud? Yes, it does. Is it a decent mud tire? It's minimally capable as compared to a bogger or an ag tire, but better than an AT. Is it good on rocks? yes, your are right, it is good on rocks. Have I personally tested MT/R's in the mud, rocks, snow, sand, etc? Yes, I have, but that is only 1 set of opinions, which is why I wanted to ask the people that are on this forum, what do you think about the new tire as compared to others in its class?
